The exception taken to my quite innocent remarke gives me the more surprise in view of the great hospitality, which have during the last five years extended to the large and increasing Japanese commercial community here; to the distinguished visitors to the Colony, and to the Officers of the numerous ships of the Japanese Navy, which constantly use this Port.
